DAAD, as a publicly funded, self-governing organisation of the institutions of higher education in Germany, promotes international academic exchange as well as educational co-operation with developing countries through a variety of funding and scholarship programmes.
DAAD, the German Academic Exchange Service, in association with AIMS South Africa, provides five in-region scholarships for a PhD programme in Mathematical Sciences. These scholarship are available to students wishing to commence a PhD programme at a South African University.
The AIMS South Africa Research Centre can host Postdoctoral Fellows funded through the DAAD post-doctoral researcher fellowship programme. These fellowships enable senior or prospective teaching or research staff (preferably former DAAD Scholarship holders) to visit centres of excellence to improve their teaching ability. AIMS South Africa will accept applications from individuals who wish to visit the AIMS South Africa Research Centre.
